Southern Dalmatia
Location
Southern Dalmatia
Mljet National Park covers the western part of Mljet Island in Southern Dalmatia and is one of the greenest stops on the Croatian coast. Dense pine forest stretches down to two saltwater lakes — Veliko Jezero and Malo Jezero — creating a landscape that feels calmer and more shaded than the rocky outer islands.
Arriving by yacht, the coastline becomes softer and more wooded. The atmosphere here is noticeably quieter, with fewer towns and more nature.

Where You’ll Spend Time
Most yachts enter Polače Bay, a naturally protected harbor inside the national park zone, or moor in Pomena, located near the lakes’ entrance.
Polače is the more atmospheric option, with Roman ruins along the waterfront and a small cluster of restaurants facing the bay. Pomena is slightly more developed but gives faster access to the park’s walking and cycling paths.
From either anchorage, the lakes are within easy reach.
Things to Do
Visit the Saltwater Lakes
The two interconnected lakes are the highlight of Mljet.
Here you’ll find:
Calm, sheltered water ideal for swimming
A small boat transfer to St. Mary’s Island
A Benedictine monastery set in the middle of Veliko Jezero
Forest walking and cycling paths surrounding the shoreline
The lakes feel completely different from open sea anchorages — warmer, still, and enclosed by greenery.
Explore St. Mary’s Island
Located at the center of Veliko Jezero, this tiny island houses a former monastery complex dating back to the 12th century. It’s a short boat ride from the shore and one of the most photographed spots in the park.

Slow Time in Polače
Polače itself is small and peaceful. Roman palace remains sit just behind the waterfront, and evenings are quiet, with most guests dining ashore before returning to the yacht.
Mljet is less about movement and more about slowing down.
Restaurants in Mljet National Park

Hotels (Pre / Post Charter)
